CITIZEN'S ARREST Scott and Sarah performing live
Standing on the corner
Waiting for a crime to come along

Mister, it's a citizen's arrest
Just put your hands up slowly
No, this is not a test
You prob'ly thought ya got away scot-free
But jaywalking's illegal
Please come along with me, quietly
Now don't put up a fight
I saw you cross the street against the light

I'm a bit obsessed with my noble cause
     I admit I arrested a Santa Claus
     For loitering and connoitering
     By the freeway

I applied to the Police Academy
They said I was an alternate
And they'd get back to me
That was '93
I saw you throw your chili dog on the ground
Would you step ever here, please?
I'm taking you downtown, right now
You walked off wiener-free
But your misdemeanor didn't slip by me

     I never saw a law I didn't like
So stay off of the sidewalk on your bike
     Walk your bike, please!
And trust thyself to bust thyself
     When you need to

I can make a citizen's arrest
It's in our Constitution
The Ninth Amendment, yes, God bless
I saw your poodle crouching in the park
The evidence lay steaming
As he ran off with a bark, bark, bark
You may think it's a drag
But you've gotta stick that in a plastic bag

In my ceaseless quest to uphold our laws
In my zeal and zest if I go too far
I'll cuff myself and rush myself
     To the station
